First Picture on my Blog

I am pretty bad about posting picutres...ok, I've never posted a single picture on my blog until now...so here are some pictures of what I've been up to. (Or rather, these are the pictures on my XD card, some from several months ago, some from Tuesday)
The first 2 are Chloe at the park swinging and scowling, two things she currently enjoys.
The next two a part of a series of pictures that I've been taking as my hair changes.
And the last ones are of making cake pops (Bakerella!!) for enrichment. Thanks for your help April, you're awesome! I wouldn't have finished them without you! I'll have to post some of the graduation suckers for this weekend. That's right, ISAAC IS GRADUATING!!!!
Part of the reason I haven't said anything about him graduating is because we're still going to be here another year while he finishes his masters.....sigh.

Following in her footsteps

It seems to me that my oldest child is unusually...rambunctious, explorative, and sneaky...but maybe I have been overly acusatory and it is typical behaivor for a child or 2 or 3. What brings me to this conclusion is that Chloe seems to be beginning her adventures as she nears the age of 2. This morning I heard Isaac say from the other room, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING????!!!!". When I came to see what "she" was doing Isaac was holding a razor. Chloe, was innocently looking up with an expression that seemed to say, "hi dad, what's up?'. Apparantly she had been sucking on the razor. She did cut her toungue but didn't seem to notice. (It wasn't really bad).
Crazy things Chloe has done.....
Eaten Kenzie's poop.....That one was the worst
Jumps off anything
Eats anything (pennies, pretzles, poop, nightlights-at least she got it in her mouth...she didn't acctually swallow, bobbypins)
She likes to play on my laptop and erase my homework (Whoever made the power button the most exciting and lit up button on the computer didn't have kids)
Hides things

I suppose it isn't too bad yet. I'm sure there will be more. For now I'm grateful that God made us to sleep. When I look in on those little girls who cause so much rucus, I can't help but think they're the most beautiful wonderful things I have ever seen.

Jammie days

I've been on the couch all morning in my long johns and jammies. I realize that since the school year started to wind down that I have become good friends with my couch and laptop. BUT....Today is the start of a new era.
The era where I-
Get up and say my prayers
Take a shower before 7
Get dressed before 8
Eat breakfast before 9
Not get on the laptop before nighttime
Put up my tree before Isaac graduates (...in one week!!!!)
clean my house before new years...or before Andrea comes and stays with me next week
Cook dinner every night
Get my kids dressed no later than an hour after me
Spend some time with my kids playing
Stop watching Kyle XY, Bones, Cheers, Parks and recreations, The office, Glee, Castle, Monk, pushing daisies, Lie to me.....for now
Take the time to do fun things but quality together time things with my kids, like...playing in the snow, drawing christmas trees, making crafts, sewing stockings, making cookies to bring to people...etc
Get batteries for my camera and FINALLY take some pictures before my children grow up
And in general enjoy my days.

Now I think I'll go start by getting ready for the day (even though it is noon) and start cleaning.
Have a good weekend!!

What makes a good husband

For me this is what makes a good husband and the things I find I'm so blessed with.
- hard working, not just hard working, so hard wokring he gives most of his life to make sure we have what we need.
- sacrificing. I didn't always appreciate this but he will give the shirt off his back to give me and his family and himself the things he needs.
- loving. He may not have much time with us but when he's home (and not doing homework) he is the sunshine, Hugging and kissing me.
- he's not very good at keeping surprises from me because his excitement overtakes him and he usually spills the beans himself.
- He has big dreams and high hopes.
- When he is happy, he is like pure happiness overflowing.
- I am so important to him. Sure, we have our fights and arguments but his reliance on me is sweet.
- He believes in me, he encourages me.
- He is so loving and sweet.

I love being married but it isn't always easy. I love being married to Isaac though. I always wanted the disney fairytale life when I was younger and now I realize that the disney stories aren't about life. They are about getting to life. Life is so different. It is disappointing and hopeful. It is sorrowful and rewarding. It is a lot of bad and a lot of good. But in the end I have to believe it is worth it and I'm glad that I am on my way with a man I love very much.

Wedgies

I know it is really strange to blog about wedgies but I have to. A couple days ago I went to Maceys on a whim and while I was pushing the cart around I saw a girl infront of me pick her wedgie. She must have been in her 20's and while I'm certain she thought nobody was looking, she was also wrong! I laughed, I couldn't help it...but it also got me to thinking. How many people have seen me pick my wedgies???? I've certianly picked a couple in public! I'll never forget the time I looked out my front window accross the street and saw an old man picking his wedgie! I guess the moral of the story is, don't pick your wegie or your nose unless you fully expect to be caught by somebody. Speaking of picking your nose, I was once driving to work while I lived in AZ and I drove past my uncle. I recognized his car and was about to wave to him when I noticed he was picking his nose. Not just picking his nose, DIGGING in his nose. He probably had to stuff toilet paper up his nose afterwards because I'm sure it started bleeding. I won't say which uncle but here is another moral, don't pick your nose in the car, it is a public place. (Unless you don't mind being caught)

Kitty Anyone???????

For the last 3 days there has been a kitten meowing outside my house. Well last night my neighbors knocked on my door and said they had caught it and wondered if it was mine. It wasn't but I just have a thing for kittens so I said I would take him. I thought that it would be easy to take him to a shelter or something (I'm not allowed to keep him in my apartment). Well I called around today and they told me to call animal control. For some reason "animal control" sounds so heartless and cold to me....so if there is anyone out there who wants a kitten, whose hearts are pricked by the plight of little kitty.....CALL ME! He needs a home and he's sooooo cute! I would keep him but I can't.

Bad habits

Ever since I was little I've had this bad habit. I think it got really bad after I started reading Harry Potter for the first time. I pick my lips. When I am watching a movie or reading a book and things are really intense it gets worse. Well the last couple of days I've noticed that Kenzie has inherited this awful habit. Her lips have been bloody all morning. Until today I haven't found a motivation strong enough to help me quit picking my lips but watching her mutilate herself has given me new insight!!! Not even having TMJ as a result of picking my lips has been enough. Man, what parents do to their kids. It is terrible.

At a loss

So the last week has been INSANE. I have been doing homework and housework non-stop and the girls have been watching movies non-stop. (kind of ironic because I'm taking a parenting class that tells me how bad this is for them.) I've written at least five papers, taken one test, five class discussions and catching up on homework last week. I still have a couple assignments to go, one test this weekend and one test next. I've finally reached a point where I need to take a break but I'm not really sure what I should do. I've caught up on all of my TV shows, I finished Chloe's halloween costume (oddly enough sewing is a break for me) and I'm not really sure what else is there. So, here I am blogging. I miss writing and thinking for days about the things I want to say. It is a little strange thinking so long about it but I enjoy thinking about all the funny things I'm going to say. So when I get a couple funny stories in my head I'll post them. In the meantime, I'll be looking for a TV show to get into.

Sad mood

So we've been sick at my house for a while and so we are all cooped up (and a little crazy too) but I've noticed when I get cooped up I tend to surf the internet randomly. Today I came across an essay that was featured in Oprah's magazine ("O") by Susan Klebold. If you don't know who Susan Klebold is she is the mother of Dylan Klebold, one of the columbine shooters. Being cooped up tends to make me impatient with my kids, especially when they are sick too. I'd be lying if I said that I've been a good mom while we've been "hanging out" the last week together. What this woman had to say about her son just broke my heart. She didn't know what was going on in her son's innermost thoughts and feelings. He was a shy boy who didn't confide in others and didn't like to be dependant. The last thing she heard him say was bye as he walked out the front door. She thought he was upset about not being able to sleep in longer. For six months she was not allowed to see all the evidence that the police found in her son's case. During that time her and family believed that somehow he was involved by accident or that he was coerced into being a part of the shootings. Finally the police revealed his journals to his mother and she learned that not only had he been deeply invovled but that him and his friend had planned to blow up the entire school. For years he was suicidal and depressed and lonely. She knew none of this. I guess what got me to blogging about this was the fact that this woman was not a bad mother. Perhaps she could have been better and that thought will always plague her I think. Who couldn't be better? Accidents happen all the time. We can't keep danger, fear, loss or bad from coming into our lives or the lives of our children. It is a scary thing too. What experiences will my little daughter face in this life that I cannot save her from? This is incredibly depressing to think about but what can I say, Again, I've been cooped up. I guess It got me to thinking that people have a duty to each other in this world. We are each others keepers and if we don't look out for each other soemtimes tragedy befalls us. One person can see things that others can't. One person can be a lifesaver. One person can be a hero to somebody.

Pink, Blue, any color, she's a girl.

This morning I dressed the girls in warm little sweaters and hats and headed off to the park. It was chilly even though it was almost 11:00. At the park there was another woman and her 5 children playing. Kenzie began playing and made friends with a girl close to her age. She was wearing a pink hat with a bow, a pink stripped coat, red shirt, blue jeans, and as always, her cowboy boots. The other woman had a son that I would guess to be about 7 or 8 years old. He asked his mother (while I stood right in front of him) quite loudly if Kenzie was a boy. His mother answered, yes. He asked, if he is a boy why is he waearing a pink hat. The mother responded by saying that he needed something to keep his head warm. I think I must have stood there with my mouth hanging open for about 5 minutes just staring at them. In the first place, she does NOT look like a boy! In the second place, if she was my oldest, WHY would I put a pink hat on her that fit her head? Lastly, all this was said loudly in my presence without acknowledging my existence. I know I'm oversensitive, especially about my children, I guess I just thought her gender was a little more obvious. I realize we live in a world where no longer does a color identify you as male or female but I asume most girls who are around 3 wear pink naturally. I would understand if she was wearing blue that she could be mistaken for a boy but I just thought it was a little rediculous. I'm done now.

True devastation

Well, it was Halle's (my niece) birthday party this past saturday and I learned what true loss was while we were there. Andrea (my sister) put up a bunch of helium balloons up for the party and they along with some shiny necklaces were the hit of the party. Kenzie really was having a good time with the balloons and decided to take hers out on the balcony porch. I have tried to explain to her before that with balloons you have to be careful because they can fly away but how do you really explain something like that to a 3 year old who has never experienced anything like that? So of course she let it go and the devastation that followed was something I have never seen anything like before! At first I thought she was injured because the last time she cried that horribly was when she sliced her finger open on a lid of a can of olives! So she showed me her balloon flying away into the sky and I couldn't help but laugh. I know it wasn't really funny but you know when kids look at you and ask you to do something no matter how crazy it is because they believe you can save them or help them no matter what the circumstances are? There was no way to help her understand that even though she could see it floating away there was nothing I could do. But man you should have seen the look on her face! The equivalent look would be if I was given a brand new charger and then somebody stole it and left it on the train tracks while I watched it get run over, smashed, explode and burn into a giant pile of charcoal. It was that horrible. It was so horrible that she insisted we leave. She had to go home NOW. She needed to pee and she would not use my sister's bathroom. I had to physically carry her to the toilet and she cried as I held her on the toilet. Poor girl. She eventually got over it. (especially after she got another balloon) Even though it was a sad thing for her, it makes me laugh. I don't know why. Maybe it is because it is just a balloon, but to her it was a brand new charger.

Weird

Just now I got a call from Isaac telling me about something strange that happened to him on the way to school. So he was driving and he saw that someone had broken down in the middle of the intersection and so he stopped and helped push them out. When he came around to the driver he saw that it was a man and he recognized him as our previous land lord. The strange part is that he was dressed in a mini skirt, a tube top and bright red lipstick.....
Weird!!!

TV shows

I have to slam the Tv show that I just spent the last hour and a half getting into. It is called 'More to love'. Basically it is the bachelor only it is people that are overweight. I have to say that I really struggle with the bachelor as well. I watched an episode in the middle of the season and then I skipped to the endings to see which girls went home and which girl he asks to marry him. So now that you have to background, let me say this, I hated this show!! In what reality would be acctually be put through this process to be with somebody. Granted dating is similar but at least there comes a point where if you start making out with somebody usually that means that you're exclusively dating someone. This guy has 10-15 girls fawning over him and he wins in the end. He goes out with the girls he prefers, tests how "attracted" he is to them by kissing them and receiving their affection and then conveniently sends home the jealous girl who is tired of sharing with a bunch of other girls, GO FIGURE! Anyway, maybe I'm mad that I acctually spent that much time watching the show instead of doing my homework. I guess it just played on my emotions too much. Are there really so few mr rights that so many women would subject themsleves to this circus? Could the winner sincerely believe that he cared about here when he explored a reltionship (ending in marriage) with so many other girls? If Isaac, while we were dating, wanted to date 15 girls at once (really romantic dates too!) just to make sure that at the end we really were meant for each other I would have told him to take a hike!!! If he didn't like me he sure as heck know before too long! Ok I'm done. I didn't like it.

Public Transportation

Today was quite the adventure. The girls and I have been taking the bus a lot more recently and today was fun! It started with Kenzie and I (chloe too, on my back in a pack) waiting at the bus station, which is a little glass box with a bench. Kenzie is normally adventurous and likes to explore the surrounding area and so she was walking around the station looking in the windows at me and then I looked up to see her licking the glass. Immediately I told her to come and tried to explain that she couldn't lick the glass. Her first question was, why? My first explaination is, it is dirty. This is not quite good enough for Kenzie so I tell her there is bird poop on the windows. I thought it through and I don't think that is a lie. There probably is a lot of bird poop on that glass. So she walked around pointing to all the little specks on the glass saying 'that's poop?'. I'm just glad nobody else was waiting for the bus with us. Well, we got on the bus and rode to the library. After the library we went back to the bus station and wouldn't you know it there was a big wad of red gum that had been stepped on and stretched out on the concrete. It immediately drew Kenzie's atttention because one it is red and two she loves gum. All kinds of gum, already chewed gum, gum under the table at the black pearl, gum in the package, gum gum gum. So she said, 'what is that?'. I said gum, don't touch it. (Not that saying that did anything) 2 minutes later she comes over and says look mom and she pried up a chunk and had it sitting on her finger (I'm sure it was headed for her mouth) So then we had another talk about not eating gum off the ground. So back on the bus there was a dishelved old man sitting down and she points at him and says, 'Mom, what's that?' (very loud I might add). I pretend she is pointing at the window and say 'oh that's the window'. She says, 'no, that'. (again pointing at the old man. Finally I whisper stop pointing and she lets it go.
Being three is fun I've decided. 3 yr old kids are curious (why, why why?). They are adventurous. They are expressive. (Kenzie is for sure). They are sweet. (I love that she says 'I love you mommy'. 'Not the leave me alone' though.)
Today I love Kenzie and today I'm glad she was along to make riding the bus a fun adventure for both of us.

School

Today is the second day of school and all I can say is phew!!!! I haven't been in school for about 5 years now and I realize now how much I haven't exercised my brain in that 5 years!!! I am just walking around the house with a rotating list in my head of all the things I have to do today, tomorrow, the next day, saturday, next week, next month and so on!!!! Another amazing thing happened when I started school (amazing to me, although not thrilling in the general sense!). There are tons of projects and to do lists sitting around the house but I haven't done much with them really. When school started and I got suddenly really busy I have been picking up my to do lists and doing them! Why is it that the motivation to do all these things comes now when I really don't have time!? I can tell you I've been sitting on my butt the last 3 weeks but I could not get anything done! Weird. I do understand that when I am busy I tend to be more motivated.
Well, the other day I went through my closet and deep cleaned it. I pulled everything out and reorganized it. While I was in there I found all the pictures I didn't hang up when I moved in and finally hung them up. I feel like I am home now. Funny how little things can make such a big difference.
The other day I was thinking about a blog that I wanted to write and here it is.

Things I have learned in the 5 years I've been married

Seasoned stewed tomatoes warmed up in the microwave are not considered tomato soup.
Each year I've been married is harder than the year before, but better too
Having a baby is....fun, scary, frustrating, wonderful, life changing, selfless (wether or not you intended to be selfless), hard, rewarding, ever changing, amazing.
Little babies are the cutest thing in the world, but they are a little boring
1 year olds are so fun!!!
18 month of babies are terrors
2 year olds are...demonic
3 year olds are fun, for the most part
2 kids is harder than one but the second child is a breath of fresh air (in my case)
No 2 kids are alike
Kids are the source of some of my best times
Husband is the source of most of the other best times.
There is nothing in the world like a girl friend who knows what you're going through
It is hillarious to hear my 3 yr old say fart (I know I'm imature)
Being in the military is hard but worth it
Going to school is VERY hard but worth it
Me going to school is one the best things I've done
I've learned how to get permnant marker off of the Tv screen (more than once), the fridge, the dishwasher, the remote, the wall, an outlet, wood (sort of), but unfortuneately I haven't figured out how to get it out of cloth.
I've learned if you put it on the floor it will get eaten, in any condition
My husband and my daughters are the greatest joy in my life and my greatest sorrow
I have a good life

18.46$ lesson

So I went to Maceys today to get chicken. We have this new thing going on where we buy in bulk and then freeze, and it is great! (Not a new idea, but new to me!) Anywho, I got chicken for about 18 bucks because it was a buy one get one free. Well, I get up to pay for it and both Isaac and I notice that we are being charged 36.00$ instead of 18 and so I point it out to the cashier and she says, "Sorry that probably applied to the seasoned chicken". I'm thinkin' Noway sister! I'm not stupid! I spent a good ten minutes looking at the chicken and I can tell where the sign is located that designates the deal, otherwise I wouldn't have grabbed the meat! So I'm getting frustrated but I don't say anything! I also noticed that the chicken has been scanned twice for 18.46 when the chicken I picked up was 18.46 and 18.04. Then after we pay Isaac stuffs the receipt into a box that somehow benefits schools (my kids aren't in school yet so I'm not paying attention currently). Then I point out this fact to him. It is in this moment I realize that I'm paying 18 bucks for my inablilty to tell this cashier she is full of crap, that I'm not too stupid to know what I was looking for, and that SHE SCANNED THE CHICKEN TWICE. It probably should let it go, and for the most part I have, but in the future I'll keep in mind that maybe my silence will be worth more than a lousy 18 $ and it just may be worth speaking up.

On another note, I made an observation yesterday that got me to thinking. It is on the line of pants again. I went to a dinner with a bunch of girls and while I was there I sat on some chocolate chips. (Chloe is the one to thank for that!) So I stand up and start cleaning the butt of my pants when one girl comments on how my pants look really comfortable. I respond by saying they are quite comfortable and in fact my favorite jeans. Then another girl says 'oh i'm wearing my favorite jeans too!' As I thought about it I realized that people when their born are given certain objects for comfort and this is perfectly acceptable. Children can carry pacifiers, bottles, blankets (their mom's right arm) and all sorts of things around to sooth them in uncomfortable situations. As we get older we have to adapt to less noticeable and more socially acceptable security objects. As a teenager I wore enormous winter jackets all year round to hide my teenage body. As a mother I carry my babies in front of my stomache where I can't quite rid myself of the baby flub. (I still revert to the enourmous winter coats occasionally.) But when winter is not the season and I find myself in a situation where a baby is not near I lean on one other security, My pants. I slip on the old comfy jeans. They are a size too big so my love handles don't hang over the edge. They don't hug my body and accentuate the flaws but rather smooth them out. They are like a silent friend reassuring me that I'll be ok until I'm home again. They remind me that I can find a comfort zone anywhere, that is....until I sit on chocolate chips.

Old pants

For the last 3 years (give or take) I've been trying to get down to my ideal weight. During that time I have gone up and down on the scale between another baby and trying to get down before and after. I've also accumilated many MANY pairs of pants. Pants for my bigger shape and size and pants for that day when I will fit into them. Even though I've grown in size I still have this eye for pants that I used to fit in. (I also seem to have issues with dressing rooms...another story) So I'll buy pants that according to my eyes "fit" and then find out at home they don't even fit my calves. So then I put them on a special shelf. This shelf houses all the pants that some day I'll fit into. On special occasions I pull those pants down and try them on. Ocasions like, I exercised today! Or The scale says I'm lighter today! Or Hmm, I haven't tried these on in a while. Every time I move I have to part with these pants that I bought and never wore because I simply can't have more pants that I don't fit in than pants I do fit in!!! Today marks a special occasion because of the two pants that I still have left on my special shelf, both fit. Unfortunately I've changed so much over the past three years, sadly, the pants aren't really my style anymore.

New news

I like to sit down and write a blog when things are calm and I can be reflective, which is probably why I haven't written in a long while. It has been a crazy last couple weeks! The girls and I have been hopping from one location to the next trying to stay busy and prepare for my little sister's wedding. Isaac will be coming home this coming sunday the 19th and I couldn't be more excited. I wasn't expecting to hear from him until this coming friday but on last sunday he was able to call from a pay phone and we've talked 3 times now on the phone. It was strange to hear his voice after not hearing it for 3 weeks but it was wonderful too!
I'm grateful for all my family for putting me up and keeping me busy. They have helped me survive and survive well and happy! Thank you so much (Kendra and Russell, April and Josh, Andrea and Mike! And your kids too).
Well, I'm rambling so I'm ending this!

In the army now

Today Isaac has been gone a week for his month long training this summer. The first bit wasn't as bad because I was able to stay with my brother and sister-in-law, which was really nice. I'm very greatful. Now that I'm home it has been a lot harder especially at night. I have come to realize how much I love and rely on my husband. I keep thinking that I don't want to be alone but truthfully I want to be alone, with Isaac. I know I'm being selfish for complaining because he is doing some hard things at LDAC. (I'm not sure if that is the right letters for the acronym! but I don't really care!) I have come to really respect army wives who have husbands that are deployed. I'm struggling with 6 weeks but they have to do a year! (or more) I wanted to say that I think Isaac's grandma is amazing. She is a widow and her husband served in WWII. They spent 2 years ( I'm not positive on the time frame but I'm pretty sure it was 2) apart. He left his wife and 6 week old first born son and went to war. I think they both were so brave. It is easy to be brave when you commit. When the moment comes you are truly tested. When the moment comes to drive to the airport and kiss goodbye. The wife walks away alone fighting the tears. The husband sits on the plane. He is nervous about what lies ahead, too nervous to think about anything else. At night they don't have each other for comfort at the end of a hard day. When they experience a funny joke or a moment they turn to look for each other but find they are alone or without. It is the little things that get to me. When I came home after a week away the bathroom light was on. This is such an Isaac thing to do. I wasn't sure if I should be upset or laugh. It was almost like he was just downstairs and not in Washington. He left his razor on the counter and forgot to rinse the hair out of the sink after he shaved. It was such a normal senerio it was almost like he would call my name and peek around the corner. I feel a little rediculous writing all this over Isaac being gone only 6 weeks but I want to write it somewhere. I miss my husband. I am proud of his sacrifice and I know being with him when it is over will be worth whatever feelings I may have now, BUT this is miserable. I may not be a good army wife for saying "I'm miserable" but I don't want to diminish that I am so proud of Isaac. He is so much braver than me. He is smart and funny. Some days I wonder what he saw in me. I'm not supportive or outgoing or funny. But I never feel uncomfortable around him. He loves me and I always know it. Mostly I am so proud of Isaac. I am lost without him but I know that nothing great is acomplished in this world without sacrifice. To all the men in the army for what they are willing to and do sacrifice and the wives behind at home, Thank you. I don't know the full extent of what you go through, but I'm greatful.

Therapy

Blogging is kinda of funny. I think about it all the time. The things I would say and it is very theraputic. Especially because I feel like I gave birth to Satan. So here is some things I have learned.
-If Satan had a favorite color juice, it would be red.
-Satan would have to pour his own red juice every time nobody was looking and would spill it on the floor, in the fridge, on the table, the counter, but most importantly, the carpet.
-If Satan were being potty trained he would pee his pants every time he (she) needed to pee just because. He (she) is perfectly capable of peeing in the toilet, but he (she) would pee his (her) pants every time. I still haven't figured out why. Aparently Satan is unconcerned with the rewards or punishment system.
-If Satan had a sister he (she) would write with marker on her face. He (she) would tear everything out of his sisters hands just to make her cry. He (she) would wake her up from all her naps because what fun is a sleeping baby?
-If Satan was potty training she would wait until you weren't home to poop in her pants. And she would do it more than once in a 10 minute time period.
-If Satan was hungry he would first dip a sharp knife into purple glitter and then proceed to cut a cantalope because.....I'm not really sure. I'm really not.

If my daughter was Satan I'm sure she wouldn't make me laugh. It doesn't happen right away but she certainly makes life.....spicy. She has and probably always be our firecracker. Some days she feels like a demonic creature straight from the underworld but then she smiles. I can't say that works on me until several hours have passed. Children are no longer angels I think, but they are heavenly. I haven't quite figured out the rest of what they are but I suppose it isn't Satan.

Pain and pain in the butt

On wednesday I had my wisdom teeth pulled. It actually was a pretty good day too. 2/3 of the day is pretty foggy and while I don't like that, I kind of do. I vaguely recall the dental hygenist telling me I wouldn't remember anything that she was telling me and I remember this made me really mad. Anyway, today has been the real kicker. I didn't realize how down and out I'd be after getting my teeth pulled (or I would have done it when I didn't have children!!!). It has been a challenge mostly because I can't take a nap. Or there is a price I should say. There is nobody physically preventing me from sleeping (besides the screaming squealing children) but when I choose to fall asleep I make the choice to sacrifice something for that selfish pleasure. Today I sacrificed a bottle of hand sanitizer. I awoke to Kenzie cleaning the kitchen floor. One whole bottle. (anybody want to lick my kitchen floors, they're germ free) The second nap I took I was given the consequence of refolding a tub of wipes that Chloe "unpacked" for me. Later on I discovered that the kitchen floors had been coated with cinnamon. (Again the kitchen floors are germ free and cinnamon flavored!) Certainly things could have been worse (and they have....poop is all I'll say) but today I paid a price for my naps. Sometimes the price is worth it, sometimes it isn't.

I wasn't able to update this yesterday because the internet was down. Kenzie loves to play outside. Every chance she gets she runs out the front or back door. Yesterday the weather was nice so I left the back door open since our back patio is closed off. Then I went upstairs. My bedroom window overlooks the patio and peeked on her she was in the Charcoal grill. Again, my bad for leaving it out but she apparently loves the ashes and the way they scatter in the wind and turn her fingers gray. I'm glad I caught her before something really bad happened. Could have been worse!

Past and present

When Kenzie was born I remember thinking that she was the most beautiful, sweet, adorable thing in the world. When she turned 18 months she transformed, inside, into a demonic thing. She still looks sweet and wonderful and on occasion is a sweetie, but she is incredibly destructive and wild. I guess demonic is a little strong. She is....more like a monkey. She swings from the lights and hides food in the carpet, under her bed, in her toy chest and she destroys like a....monkey? Hmm, well there is no real description for it but here is the latest.
As I write this she is pouring crackers from her bowl onto her face. I find myslef saying, "What the heck are you doing!? Keep those dang crackers in the bowl!". Yesterday she found the same red fingernail polish and painted her nails, her lip and her tooth. It wasn't that bad, hardly noticable and with a good brushing it is mostly gone. But Come on!!! I have to say that it is my fault. Somewhere I never really learned to put the polish away EVERY SINGLE TIME I USE IT. Or to check on her every 30 seconds when I leave the room. So because I don't have a greater capacity to sit and watch her every move, it really is my fault that she gets into the trouble she does.
When Kenzie was little she used to put whole rolls of toilet paper in the toilet. Every time I look at Chloe and wonder, how long do I have to wait before you change too? Well, I'll have more to post I suppose when the second one transforms.

I'm now a blogger

So I started a blog, finally. It is kind of funny to me what finally motivated this change of heart but it was my 3 year old daughter. I walked into the bathroom and found her painting. Painting the sink, with my RED fingernail polish. It was then the idea of sharing these wonderful times with the blogging world might be entertaining and theraputic. I'm starting with the red fingernail polish and going back as far as I can recall all the "good times" Kenz has provided us! Welcome to the Gougler realm.
